As part of the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCT), Companies House now requires identity verification for directors, People with Significant Control (PSCs), and company filers. This is part of a wider effort to improve corporate transparency and prevent fraud in the UK company register.

While identity verification will become mandatory from 18th November 2025, it’s strongly recommended to verify now to avoid delays, ensure compliance, and prepare for future legal requirements.

Voluntary Verification

Although full enforcement has not yet begun, voluntary identity verification is already available, and the process is quick, secure, and free.

By verifying now, you can:

  • Stay ahead of upcoming compliance deadlines

  • Avoid last-minute technical issues or backlogs

  • Ensure your company’s records are up to date

  • Be ready to file confirmation statements or make changes when needed
